Daeil Kim, Founder - AI.Reverie
Daeil Kim is the technical founder of AI.Reverie and formerly a senior data scientist at The New York Times. At The Times, he developed machine learning solutions to optimize audience acquisition. Kim received his Ph.D. in computer science from Brown University. His Ph.D. research focused on the development of scalable machine learning algorithms, and his research has been published in several of the top machine learning conferences (NIPS, ICML, AISTATS).
AI.Reverie is an AI company that creates synthetic data in order to help organizations train their machine learning vision algorithms in a more cost-effective, efficient way.
Derek Schueren, CEO - Akorda
Derek Schueren is CEO and Co-Founder of Akorda, where he is working to bring the market together to transform how businesses contract. Previously, he founded Recommind, a big data analytics company where he worked with Global 2000 clients, global law firms, and tech partners in the areas of eDiscovery and Information Access. He is also an active investor and advisor to various start-ups with a focus on enterprise software and AI. Schueren holds a BS in Molecular Biology from Brown University and a masters from the University of Oregon.
Akorda is an AI-based platform for legal contract analysis, workflow, and standardization that allows teams to manage execution risk with fewer resources.
Will Webb-Purkis, SVP Product Management - Conversica
Will Webb-Purkis is the SVP of Product Management at Conversica where h oversees the building and implementation of Conversica’s conversational AI platform. Prior to joining Conversica, Will was the international GM at NextTag where he was responsible for launching and growing several business categories outside of the United States. Will holds a B.A. in engineering, economics, and management from the University of Oxford and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Conversica is an artificial intelligence-based sales automation platform designed to improve customer engagement.
Mike Collins, CEO - Alumni Ventures Group
Mike has been involved in almost every facet of venturing, from angel investing to venture capital, new business and product launches, and innovation consulting. He is currently CEO of Alumni Ventures Group, the managing company for our fund, and launched AVG’s first alumni fund, Green D Ventures, where he oversaw the portfolio as Managing Partner and is now Managing Partner Emeritus. Mike is a serial entrepreneur who has started multiple companies, including Kid Galaxy, Big Idea Group (partially owned by WPP), and RDM. He began his career at VC firm TA Associates firm. He holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Science from Dartmouth and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Peter MacEwan, General Manager - Alumni Ventures Group
Peter has startup experience in both the non-profit and business sectors, a BA from Wesleyan University and an MBA from The Wharton School. Peter developed expertise building teams and strategic planning in the San Francisco Bay Area, driving growth across multiple seed- and early-stage companies (with many nights spent as informal adviser to a network of entrepreneurs).
