Mike Collins, CEO - Alumni Ventures Group
Mike has been involved in almost every facet of venturing, from angel investing to venture capital, new business and product launches, and innovation consulting. He is currently CEO of Alumni Ventures Group, the managing company for our fund, and launched AVG’s first alumni fund, Green D Ventures, where he oversaw the portfolio as Managing Partner and is now Managing Partner Emeritus. Mike is a serial entrepreneur who has started multiple companies, including Kid Galaxy, Big Idea Group (partially owned by WPP), and RDM. He began his career at VC firm TA Associates firm. He holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Science from Dartmouth and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Peter MacEwan, General Manager - Alumni Ventures Group
Peter has startup experience in both the non-profit and business sectors, a BA from Wesleyan University and an MBA from The Wharton School. Peter developed expertise building teams and strategic planning in the San Francisco Bay Area, driving growth across multiple seed- and early-stage companies (with many nights spent as informal adviser to a network of entrepreneurs).
Julia Bernstein, COO of Tempest
Tempest is building the modern recovery platform for those who want to change their relationship with alcohol. It offers digital courses, peer support, and evidence-based practices, with the mix of services tailored to the individual’s needs. While it is open to everyone, it particularly focuses on women and minority groups. Tempest recognizes the additional stresses of the COVID crisis and is adding special services to help members cope.

Smartvid.io reduces jobsite risk with the power of AI. Their easy-to-use AI platform lets companies observe, monitor, and predict risk in the areas of safety, productivity, and quality. Smartvid recently added social distancing monitoring to its software in response to COVID-19 to detect worker proximity and their use of personal protective equipment.
Inder Singh, Founder and CEO of Kinsa
Kinsa’s mission is to stop the spread of contagious illness through early detection and response via its smart thermometer, app, and health map. They help individuals access care early when they fall ill, assist communities responding to curb the spread of illness, and track and predict the spread of infectious illness across the U.S. They have done with this flu and have recently used their same tools to track COVID-19 with hyper-local and timely data.
