“You can invest either for return or for impact.” NOT TRUE.
Diverse founders—women, minorities, and other underrepresented groups—continue to be underfunded by VCs. Yet we can cite a number of compelling stats and studies to demonstrate that diverse leadership “generates better financial performance, stronger innovation, and higher levels of startup success” (Harvard Business Review).
This kind of disconnect is where AVG sees opportunity for venture investors who are interested in both making a difference and potentially seeing a return on their portfolio. Our answer is the AVG Anti-Bias Fund (ABF). This fund consists of a portfolio of about 20-30 diverse venture investments that (1) must pass our vetting as promising investments, and (2) are led by a diverse founder/team or featuring a business model addressing systemic biases. Investment minimum is only $25K.
In this 45-minute webinar, AVG’s CEO and CIO will discuss the opportunity to do good and well through the Anti-Bias Fund, answering these questions.
- What’s the state of diversity investing today?
- What is the case for investing in diverse founders?
- How does the ABF build a portfolio?
- What is unique about the Anti-Bias Fund?
- What would an ABF investor’s portfolio look like?
