Alumni Ventures Announces Its Second VentureCorps Cohort
March 25, 2021 | Ashley Brindamour
Alumni Ventures, one of the nation’s most active venture investors, announced the launch of their second cohort for the company’s career-fostering VentureCorps program. Building on the success of their inaugural year, Alumni Ventures has added a second option to the program. Both paths are paid, full-time tracts designed for individuals across the country who are interested in a career in entrepreneurship or venture capital.
- The VentureCorps Analyst position is designed for those who plan to defer or take a leave of absence from a higher-education degree program for the 2021-2022 academic year. It will run a full year, from August 2021 to July 2022.
- The VentureCorps Analyst II position is designed for recent graduates who are looking for a way to break into venture capital. This year-long program, with an optional second year, will begin June 2021.
Alumni Ventures plans to offer 10-12 full-time VentureCorps positions between the two options. Each VentureCorps member will be embedded with an Alumni Ventures team operating out of San Francisco, Boston, New York, Austin, Chicago, or the company’s HQ in Manchester, New Hampshire. Remote candidates will also be considered. Applications are due by Monday, April 5, and are available online.
Providing an On-Ramp to Venture & Entrepreneurship
“The VentureCorps program is in keeping with our goal to democratize entrepreneurship and venture capital — both for investors and for industry participants. Universities certainly do their part in helping prep future entrepreneurial leaders, but those of us in the venture industry share that responsibility too. We also think that apprenticeship-model programs like VentureCorps can be an important way to diversify VC and entrepreneurship by providing accessible on-ramps.” — Alumni Ventures CEO Mike Collins
Consistent with Alumni Ventures Just Cause of expanding the community of entrepreneurship, Alumni Ventures is seeking VentureCorps candidates with different backgrounds and experiences. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply, though some preference will be given to those able to work from Boston, NYC, SF, Chicago, Austin, or NH so that they can benefit from the dynamic of shared space and in-person connection as company offices reopen.
Depending on which team the member is embedded with at Alumni Ventures, VentureCorps work will range from sourcing promising startups to researching, doing diligence work, supplying organizational and administrative help, and supporting community outreach efforts (webinars, portfolio company services, etc.). VentureCorps members will also enjoy access to ongoing enrichment opportunities, educational coursework, group learning, and more.
